Anything I Want

This Alice Rose track (with remix by previous blog entry Ruede Hagelstein) is killer. For starters it sounds like its been pulled straight out of a Danny Tenaglia set, and well you really can't go wrong having that going for you already.

Next up is a new release by without a doubt, two of the biggest names in Dance music production for the past 20 years, Green Velvet & Carl Craig. It sounds like you'd expect a track produced by those two to sound. Twisted, Dark, Deep heavy bass with fucked up lyrics. A lot of what i love about Dance music right there.

Lastly, I've truly lost count of how many different covers I've heard of this song. Theres a reason for that. Arthur Russell was a huge inspiration to a lot of the people making (interesting) electronic music today, something like a Nicholas Jaar of his time only without all the fame and good looks. If you don't know his name you likely know his music produced under various aliases including Dinosaur and Loose Joints. Anyhoo, I came across this remixed cover of This Is How We Walk On The Moon and since the original version is one of both mine and my husband's favourite songs, I thought they both ought to be included here.

It seems like summer was just starting and I really don't know where the time went. But onward we go.

Satan that I used to know

That Gotye track Somebody that I used to know has been in everyones ears for the past month or more and to be honest I'm kinda over it.  But I heard 3 great remixes of it over the Easter weekend.  I really have to say that I had a pretty great weekend of tunes.  I usually do, but this one was pretty sweet.  Chris Larsen played pretty fantastically at CZ which was a pretty big surprise as I typically am not a huge fan of his sound but man what a set so props to him for sure for that. And during his set he dropped one of those 3 great remixes I heard of Gotye which, as it turns out, is his own edit and low and behold its on his Soundcloud as a free download! Nice one.

In a taxi on my way home from a party and still having not heard enough, I popped on my headphones to listen to a little Kaiserdisco set I had on my iPhone, which I never seem to get all the way through, and on comes this little beauty. wow. Its an instant mood setter and I really love it :)

Terry Grant, MSMS - Closer

Carl Craig has got to be the most prolific producer ever. For real.  The guys has had his hands all over absolutely everything for, what seems like forever.  And I can't think of anything of his that I've heard that wasn't pretty cool and ranging from techno, electro, sexy deep house... he does it all.  So I'm listening to this 5 hour Stacey Pullen mix the other day and BOOM this track comes in.  Part of me is scared, part of me is laughing, and the other part is dancing around the livingroom.  Its a few years old and its one of Carl Craig's alter(ed) egos, Tres Demented.  Sounds like some honey gone and done him wrong...that bitch better run for cover!

umm so remember in "Dead Poet's Society" when the class have that beautiful moment of rebellion and unification and recite a Walt Whitman poem? No? K, well re-watch(or just plain watch) the movie.. I think I'm going to have to re-watch it because it's been over 10 years and I need a refresher.  But when I heard this track pop up in a set  it reeeeally took me back. Its by Pan-Pot, who are this pretty cool duo from Berlin who apparently love cookware, and Walt Whitman.

You'd think after the amount of dance music I've listened to I would be used to the ludicrous lengths of some of the intros before the song really gets going. Well, I'm not. I know why it's there.  And I fully am ok with like 45 seconds to a minute of oonts oonts oonts until the trak gets going so the dj can cue everything up blah blah ya I get it... but Carl Craig. You sir have just pushed me over the edge. 5 minutes and 45 seconds. Are you kiddin' me?! Lucky for you, you're Carl Craig, and that as usual this remix is pretty killer. So be warned, this one is over 10 minutes long but theres nothing all that cool going on until 5:45. Dude from Hot Chip's voice... love it.

Also I just have to mention how friggin' cool it is to look at the stats when you operate a blog.  As my mother could attest to, I am a geek for statistics. So seeing everyday that I get 4 hits from Russia, and The Netherlands and Germany etc etc its pretty awesome. Also that close to 70% of those people are Mac users.. well my heart swells a little. :)  So, thanks subscribers! :)
